Poker Run

  • NO running, motorized vehicles or Poker Playing Skills required....you can even stop for a dip in the pool.

  • This is a SOCIAL event.....with a chance for someone to win a little money.

  • Think of it as a two hour strolling Pub Crawl....beverages consumption optional!

(Organizer: Becky ...Lobster129)

Date:  Monday, Feb. 25, 2019 (Sea Day)
Begin at 3:30PM... and end at 6pm so that people with early seating dinner could make it to dinner on time. A lot of the evening bars open up at 5pm, so starting late afternoon allows you to fit in a variety of bars. This is how ours went last Eclipse cruise:

  • 3:30-4:00pm: Sunset Bar near Lawn Club (Aft Deck 15)

  • 4:00pm-4:30pm: Oceanview Bar (Deck 14)

  • 4:30pm-5:00pm: Passport Bar (Deck 3)

  • 5:00pm-5:30pm Cafe al Bacio (Coffee bar area, Deck 5)

  • 5:30pm-6:00pm Ensemble Lounge (Deck 5)

The way it works is everybody who wanted to compete in a poker game received one playing card at each of the bars. Everybody playing kicked in $5. in USD (Casino & Guest Services can exchange your £)[ The person with the BEST poker hand at the end of the Poker Run wins 75% of the pot and person with WORST (lowest) hand wins 25%.

Example: If we have 20 players....we have $100 in the "pot". First place would win $75.00 and lowest would win $25.00. It is not typically that easy....as I am not a mathematical expert. We will get volunteers to calculate these numbers and others to verify.

The 3:30-6:00pm time period seems to work well as it does not interfere with dinner, and there are several different bars/lounges open during that time period.

Maximum player size is 52 people....the number of cards in a deck. (Minimum # to hold Poker Run is 12.)  ***Following Casino guidelines that all players must be at least 21 years old to play.***   However, well-behaved children are welcomed to join the fun....They can't have $$ in the game for legal reasons :-)  I expect our grandkids to attend..but "kids club" might offer more excitement.

Will open a "new" deck of cards at each bar, shuffle and then players pick a card. Each deck will have different colored backs on them. No sharing/trading cards among players.  Will ask for volunteers to shuffle each deck...or I will ask someone to take a turn (you can decline~)

I will have the classic listing of the ranking of poker hands. You do NOT need to know how to play poker to participate!!! We will help you identify what your “best hand” option is out of the 5 cards you drew. It is essentially 5 Card Stud…so no cards to throw away, no bluffing etc.
